The 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo stopped by Lamborghini Newport Beach last month after demonstrating its performance on the track at the Homestead-Miami Raceway during the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster Launch event.
For 2013 the race car has been further improved with a significant aerodynamic package which increases downforce by 120%.
Having the 2013 version side-by-side with the previous generation Gallardo Super Trofeo, the amount of work Sant'Agata put in this race car is noticeably impressive. The completely redesigned front bumper now includes a much lower front lip and a set of winglets on each side to improve stability and front end precision.
The rear diffuser also receives a brand new layout, exposing the gearbox even more and offering more hot air extraction.
The wing is now sitting higher with a bigger angle, again to improve stability and allowing for higher speed cornering.
In addition the vehicle has a new cooling system for the brakes and a single log-nut for the wheels wearing slick Pirelli racing tires, resulting in 2 seconds per lap faster over the first generation of Super Trofeo on average.
Lamborghini is bringing the Gallardo Super Trofeo racing
series to the USA in 2013.
The series has been racing in Europe and Asia for the
last 3 years with great success; it is the fasted single vehicle series
currently available thanks to the 570HP, all wheel drive Gallardo.
The races will take place on 6 very significant US tracks, in conjunction with National racing series
such as ALMS, Grand-Am and Indy Car from the East Coast to California.
All
races will have a very luxurious hospitality set-up for the drivers and their
guests with a two races per weekend format.
