Rome welcomes Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo World Final

20 November 2013, Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy. After a thrilling year of racing from Shanghai to Monza, from Lime Rock to Macau, Rome’s Autodromo Vallelunga Piero Taruffi will welcome competitors from the four corners of the globe to contest the inaugural Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo World Final this weekend.

The World Final is witness to the growing international following for the Super Trofeo single make race format, which has gone from strength to strength following its origins in Europe in 2009. With the European series now regularly featuring in excess of 20 cars on the grid and the Asian series in its second season of growth and expansion, 2014 was notable for the establishment of the series in North America, which was welcomed by the US & Canadian racing communities and delivered compelling and competitive racing in its very first season.

With a truly global footprint, the World Final is the ideal event to draw the Lamborghini racing fraternity together in a festival of competition. The event spans Friday and Saturday, with over four hours of competitive track activity on the 4.085km clockwise Campagnano di Roma race circuit. After two 50 minute races, the first Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo World Champion will be crowned as part of the Andrea Mamé prize giving ceremony.

The racing will be covered live in a well-established Lamborghini tradition, streamed live on the internet with full English language commentary at http://squadracorse.lamborghini.com/en/live to supplement live transmission on Sky Italia channel 518 and recorded broadcasts on Eurosport on Tuesday November 16 at 2200hrs, repeated on Wednesday November at 0830hrs on Eurosport 2.

For race fans, public access to the circuit on Saturday for spectating will be free.

Squadra Corse in evidence

Reflecting the Squadra Corse philosophy, which instructs drivers in Lamborghini road cars and progressively enables motorists to become racers on a pathway that concludes with GT3, the World Final at Vallelunga will feature a series of taxi laps with the Italian supercar manufacturer’s most fabled creations – the Veneno & Sesto Elemento.

Alongside these two ultimate expressions of the Lamborghini philosophy will be a stable of Gallardos and Aventadors for a Lamborghini Academy on track experience for VIP’s including ‘Hot Laps’ from the Squadra Corse driving team.

Finally, after the racing and the demonstrations of Lamborghini’s most illustrious road cars, prize giving will give way to Lamborghini’s sumptuous hospitality and pitlane BBQ, delivering the best in Italian food and wine.

The President Reflects on 2013

Ahead of the Vallelunga World Final, Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini took time to reflect on the development of motorsport during the year. “In 2013, we have taken some ambitious steps along the path towards a greater commitment to motorsport. First of all, we established Squadra Corse with its clear philosophy and intent to provide a pathway from the street to the track. In Misano, we introduced our very first night race, which was a huge success. And we launched a new series in North America, which was embraced wholeheartedly by the racing community. So the World Final is a fitting way to bring all of this achievement together and unite the Lamborghini racing family in a spectacular end of year event."
